The Choir competed at the National Eisteddfod held at Felindre Swansea in August.
Since Clive Phillips took over as musical director with David Last as the accompanist, this is the third time for the choir to compete at the National Eisteddfod with previous successes at Meifod 2003, and Newport 2004 where the choir were also awarded the prestigious Côr Yr Wyl (Choir of the Festival). In 2004 they also won at the International Eisteddfod in Llangollen making a clean sweep of the choral competitions.
At Swansea the choir once more rose to the occasion with a magnificent performance of William Mathias' GLORIA'. Then the choir performed for the first time a song written by their President and past accompanist Eric Jones, 'NOS O HAF', to finish their perfomance they sang 'HERIWN, WYNEBWN Y WAWR' by Gareth Glyn.
Alun Guy adjudicator emphasised how the choir responded so positively to the conductor and rose to the challenges of each piece with enchantment and magic in the performance.
Following the adjudication and winning the Welsh Guards Cup for the 14th time in the choirs history, further excitement arose when the adjudicators awarded the Choir with the Côr yr Wyl award for the second time. Clive Phillips was presented with a baton by Gillian Evans; in memory of the Choir's founder musical director and her godfather; Noel Davies. Gillian was delighted that the batton came home to the Bont. Gillian will be presenting the succesful conductor of Côr Yr Wyl with a memorial trophy each year.
The Choir was also presented with the Principality Trophy.
Following their success many letters and messages of congratulations have been received by the choir who wish to thank everyone for their fantastic words of encouragement and support.
